And so, on Christmas Eve in Saxon Square after 24 days of wonderful festive performances & many more days of hard work, Christchurch Living Advent Calendar 2023 came to a fitting end.

Adam Coshan the Town Crier opened proceedings with a perfect welcome proclamation. This afternoon was the culmination of the Christchurch Living Advent Calendar. Despite a very blustery Saxon Square, a good number gathered.

MC Peter Boardman of Christchurch Rotary introduced the Mayor Vivian Charrett who congratulated everyone involved in the organisation of the Calendar. Rotarian Brian Clarke then gave a brief overview of way in which Christchurch Rotary helps local charities and groups with the money raised.

With the help of Christchurch Vintage Brass who were the performers for the day everyone, young and old, joined in to sing some well known Carols. Everyone also enjoyed some delicious chocolate cake generously provided by Lemon Garden.

Vivian Charrett (and her beautiful dog Millie) then drew the raffle.

While the final total of funds raised for local charities throughout CLAC has yet to be confirmed, initial estimates are comparable with the amount raised last year. Thanks must go to everyone involved in CLAC 2023 – all the generous sponsors, particularly Kelvin and Pippa Medley-Jones of the Primrose Trust the principal sponsors, the performers & venues who provided their services free of charge, Jan Banks the chief organiser and her team of Rotarians and partners, & last, but not least, the good people of the area for their support.

Fear not – the Living Advent Calendar will return in 2024….
