What Is Rotary?

Supporting the BEACH Appeal to Help Local Children

Christchurch Rotary is proud to be playing a leading role in supporting the Bournemouth Hospital BEACH Appeal, a major project designed to improve the experience of children arriving at A&E and those waiting on the Children’s Ward.

This initiative reflects the very best of Rotary — collaboration, compassion, and a commitment to improving life for people in our community.

Bringing Clubs Together for a Shared Cause

Christchurch Rotarian Mike Wood has been instrumental in coordinating support across the region. Thanks to his efforts, 12 other local Rotary clubs joined Christchurch Rotary in pledging funds, raising approximately £15,000. This total includes a £4,000 Rotary District Grant, awarded specifically to support the installation of specialist equipment in the Children’s A&E reception area.

This equipment helps create a calmer, more reassuring environment for young patients and their families during what can be a stressful and frightening time.

The Next Stage: £9,000 for the Children’s Ward

Building on this success, Christchurch Rotary is now working to raise a further £9,000 to install similar child‑friendly equipment in the Children’s Ward waiting area. Once again, we are reaching out to neighbouring Rotary clubs — and the early response has been extremely encouraging.

This second phase of the project is part of the wider “Do It For The Kids” campaign, and full details can be found at www.UHDcharity.org/kids
