Christchurch Rotary fills 10 boxes for the Foodbank Reverse Advent Calendar 🎄

This December, Christchurch Rotary is proud to share some wonderful news: our members have come together to fill 10 boxes for the Christchurch Foodbank Reverse Advent Calendar.

The Reverse Advent Calendar is a simple yet powerful idea. Instead of receiving items each day, participants donate them – creating a collection of essentials that can brighten Christmas for families who are struggling. It’s a reminder that while the festive season is a time of joy for many, it can also be a difficult period for those facing hardship.

A collective effort

This achievement was made possible thanks to the generosity and commitment of our members. Christchurch Rotarians contributed items, ensuring that each box was filled with care and thoughtfulness.

We also extend heartfelt thanks to Richard Oswald of PP Printing and the Christchurch Chamber of Trade, who kindly supported the onward transmission of the boxes to the Foodbank. Their help ensures that these donations reach the families who need them most.

Supporting families in need

The boxes will be distributed to families referred to the Foodbank by schools, family centres and social services. For those households, these donations are more than just food – they are a gesture of kindness and solidarity from the wider community.

At Christchurch Rotary, we believe in service above self, and this initiative reflects that spirit perfectly. By working together, we can make a meaningful difference and bring a little extra cheer to local families this Christmas.

Looking ahead

As we celebrate this achievement, we are reminded of the importance of community collaboration. Initiatives like the Reverse Advent Calendar show how small acts, when multiplied, can have a big impact.

We look forward to continuing our support for local projects and to finding new ways to serve our community in the year ahead.
