Christchurch Rotary, together with the Boscombe & Southbourne Rotary Club, is bringing back a traditional river pageant as part of the Christchurch Carnival in 2025.
Our aim is to raise money for Hengistbury Head Outdoors, the Bourne Water Dragons and the Pink Champagne Breast Cancer Charities.
With support from the local Christchurch Chamber, Town Council and BID team, two Rotary Clubs are joining forces to launch an exciting new charity fundraising event on the River Stour from Tuckton Bridge to Christchurch Quay on Saturday 16th August. The pageant will take place from 12 noon, providing the public with an opportunity to watch the colourful water borne parade from either side of the river.
The parade will feature a variety of river craft reflecting the history of Christchurch and the local area. The river pageant will include decorative floats, boats and other watercraft, including novelty rafts, stand up paddleboards and canoes, ending up with the two dragon boat teams racing down the river.
Local clubs and community groups are invited to participate. The Christchurch Sea Cadets, Sea Scouts, Harbour Watch, Marine Voluntary Service, RNLI, National Coast Watch Institution, and various local SUP and canoe clubs have all agreed to join the river parade. There is space for other clubs, businesses and private boat owners who would also like to take part.
If you would like to enter a boat or watercraft, sponsor a prize or help in any other way, please click here or use the contact form at the bottom of this article.
The event will provide an opportunity to have fun and enjoy the river, raising money for local good causes and encourage people of all ages to engage with the Hengistbury Head Outdoor Activity Centre which is being developed for the benefit of all our local community.
