Why Join Christchurch Rotary ?
There are many charities out there so why would you want to join us?
- You enjoy social events and want to meet new people.
- You would like to feel more a part of your local community.
- You want to make a difference, locally, nationally and internationally.
- You want to be hands on in helping others.
- You do not want to see donations spent on salaries or advertising.

Christchurch Rotary is a vibrant club which is very active in the community. What we do will not always be visible to you, as we tend to go about a lot of our work quietly and without fuss.
We do however provide practical support for local charities and community projects and also give away more than £25,000 a year to charitable causes, locally, nationally and internationally. We run community events such as the Christchurch River Pageant to raise money for charities and support other events such as Christchurch Food Fest Local, the Bransgore Beer Festival and Stomping’ On The Quomps, along with smaller fetes such as the summer fair at St Joseph’s School in Somerford, where we provided a PA system free of charge.
There are so many reasons for joining us, and different ways of supporting the work that we do. Let’s explore some of them.
Become a Member of Christchurch Rotary

We are a busy club with 35 members, both men and women, of different ages, backgrounds and cultures, each bringing a different set of skills. We are always ready to welcome new members to help us raise charitable donations to then distribute to local, national and international causes.
We welcome people with the desire to help and support people and have fun in doing so!
Our Latest News and our social media pages should give you a flavour of who we help and what we get up to. While we are looking for members to support the work we do and to help us have an even bigger impact than we have currently, we can also support you in many different ways, as shown below.

What Rotary Gives You
Friendship:
Club meetings, projects and social activities are filled with opportunities to make connections.
Community Connections:
Being a member connects you with community leaders, helps you understand the needs of your area, and gives you ways to be better neighbours.
Giving Back:
Doing good in your community, whether it’s by donating money, getting involved in service projects or volunteering your time can be personally rewarding.
Global Access:
Our global presence offers members opportunities to build relationships with others, both nearby and around the world, which helps them develop a more global perspective. A member can pop into any club in the world and make connections.

Family Opportunities:
Getting involved in Rotary can bring a whole family into a community’s support network. People form life-long relationships and friendships that can strengthen a family for years.
Ethical Principles:
One of Rotary’s core principles is to maintain high ethical standards. People who get involved with Rotary know that those they associate with are expected to act ethically in their business and personal relationships.
Personal and Professional Growth:
Members learn to be leaders in a volunteer organisation, collaborate with others and learn more about themselves. These leadership skills benefit people in all areas of their lives.
Public Speaking Skills:
Members can develop their confidence and public communication skills and get the chance to use them. Our alliance with Toastmaster’s International gives members access to courses and local public speaking clubs.
Volunteer

If you would prefer to help us without becoming a member, or you would simply just like to get to know us better before joining us, we would be keen to talk with you to see how and when you could help out.
We need practical help at our money raising events, on our bucket collections at Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, providing volunteers for other charity’s events and for collecting food for the foodbank. If you can provide technical skills such as marketing, graphic design, photography, videoing, social media or website design then again we would be very interested in speaking with you. If your skill is something other than the above, then please get in touch as the list is not exhaustive!!
As a volunteer you are very much welcome to join us socially when you can.

Rotary Direct Membership

If you like the idea of Rotary but you do not want to align yourself with a particular club, you can join Rotary Great Britain and Ireland (Rotary GBI) as a Direct Member. The Rotary Direct Membership Network is a network of Rotary members who connect virtually and physically. Rotary GBI has a forum type space which brings people together online and allows for full flexibility when you take part in Rotary activities compared to the traditional meetings that clubs have.
