Christchurch Living Advent Calendar
This year £21,610.87 was raised for 23 local charities & the Club’s own Charity Fund (see the CLAC website for a complete list o the charities) in addition to continuing to build both our relationships with the sponsors & charities & the those directly between sponsors & charities.
International Committee
The Committee has supported ‘Medic to Medic’ in Malawi’ in sponsoring 2 Optometrist students who would otherwise not have the finances to complete their course.
Provided loans through Lendwithcare to a pig farmer in Ecuador; the Mindina Womens Co op farm in Malawi & Bunrueang, a lady pig farmer in Thailand.
Supported the Rotary Jaipur Limb Project, Mary’s Meals, African Adventures (to feed schoolchildren in Kenya) & Ripple Africa to sustain their library and learning centre in Malawi for 1 month.
Foundation Committee
Donated £2700 to the Rotary Foundation.
Raised £1700 for EndPolioNow through the successful Wine Tasting event in February.
Youth Committee
Has provided financial assistance to a number of different organisations (£3144 in total). From local schools, sports teams & scouts to Christchurch Foodbank & Somerford Arc, as well as helping our local school entrants in some of the Rotary Youth Competitions held in the area.
Community Service Committee
Made grants to:
* Rotary Heartbeat House running costs £500
*Justice Advice Project £250
* Christchurch Foodbank £333
* Salvation Army £500
* £500 each to Macmillan Caring Locally, Water Lily cafe, Christchurch Support Kabin & Christchurch Rotary club’s own charity account from the £2000 raised by the Christmas Collections
* Listening Ear Feather banners £260
* Burton Football Strip £250
Other Initiatives
* Collected provisions for Christchurch Foodbank 748 Kgs of provisions and £105 in cash
* Assisted with Living Advent Calendar project
*Organised Street collection for Rotary Ukraine Appeal (£600+)
*Provided volunteers to help Somerford ARC Christmas lunch and each Wednesday
*Continuing to support the Somerford ARC initiative in acquiring a minibus.
All this in addition to the ongoing dedicated efforts of our Trustees & Social & Administration Committees.
