Last night we were delighted to receive a visit from Nigel & Paula Burt from Olivia Inspires to give a talk about their charity founded in 2019 after the tragic death of their very gifted & kind daughter, Olivia, the previous year.

Nigel gave us an insight into the fantastic work the charity does in her memory, raising funds to provide grants & working with other local charities to give teenagers from deprived backgrounds  who live or study in the New Forest District area potentially life-changing experiences that would otherwise be denied to them – from something as small as buying a pair of football boots to supporting a group of teenagers to attend a course on woodland skills or go sailing, boosting their interpersonal skills & self-esteem.

Olivia Inspires has no employees, only Nigel & Paula working on a purely voluntary basis, so has minimal overheads, allowing around 95% of the money it raises to be spent on grants and yet, despite its size, the charity  has managed to raise & award £70,000 in grants, helping nearly 400 young people in only 4 years. It was also voted Charity of  the Year at the New Forest Business Partnership Brilliance in Business Awards  last year.

If that’s not inspiring, we don’t know what is !

Olivia Inpsires will also be one of the charities benefitting from our forthcoming Charity Walk in May  – more of which to come!
